It's always the season of giving at STA, but even more so around the holidays. Thanks to the generous donation of students, families, and faculty members, we were once again able to donate large amounts of turkeys to FISH in Piscataway and non-perishable food to the St. Vincent de Paul Society Food Bank in Perth Amboy.
On Monday, November 21, students in the Service Opportunity class along with Fr. Mike Tabernero and Director of Campus Ministry Mr. Mike Lewon personally delivered the non-perishable foods to Perth Amboy. They were met by the Most Reverend Bishop James F. Checchio of the Diocese of Metuchen, and they all spent the morning unpacking and shelving the food.
Speaking so kindly and compassionately to the volunteers and to the clients, he brought a smile to everyone’s face. Bishop Checchio and the STA volunteers were truly the Face of God to everyone at the St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry.
