Softball Team Takes 4th Championship In-a-Row
Posted on 05/28/2022
The girls softball team once again found itself in the GMC finals, this time competing against Old Bridge High School. The Trojans took an early 3-0 lead, cut down to a tie in the top of the 5th. With no runs scored at the end of regular play, the game went into extra innings, soon to be interrupted by a rain delay. When play resumed, Old Bridge scored a go-ahead run, which the Trojans answered at their next at bat. Now in the 11th inning, the Trojans found themselves down by two runs with two runners on base, 2 outs, and full count. With only one opportunity left to start a comeback, Mackenzie Fizer fired made-for-the-movies walk-off HR to end the game 7-6 for the girls' FOURTH GMC championship in-a-row! Hayley Wieczerzak earned MVP for her pitching. Congratulations to the athletes and coaches!
