Online Safety

With the ever-expanding presence of social media and the constant evolution of technology, students are more at risk than ever before.  Cyber-bullying, cyber abuse and identity theft are just some of the many dangers facing young adults today.

As part of the Computer Education course, which is required of all freshmen, students will be exposed to a unit on digital ethics, morality and safety.  Among other things, students will discuss:

  • how to safely navigate and search the Internet
  • how actions on the Internet leave lasting imprints
  • how actions on social media can be acted on by the law
  • how actions on social media can affect employment and collegiate applications
  • how to identify and act on cyber-bullying and cyber-abuse
  • the inherent dangers with interacting with strangers on the Internet and social media
