Trojan Victories - Week of October 6, 2025

What a week for the Trojans! From hard-fought battles to statement wins, our athletes continue to raise the bar and represent St. Thomas Aquinas with heart, pride, and unity.

Gymnastics 111.025 vs 100.925 W vs Summit
The Aquinas Gymnastics Team remains undefeated after an impressive performance on Tuesday, sweeping the top three spots in all five events in their meet against out-of-conference rival Summit High School. Aquinas posted a team score of 111.025 to Summit’s 100.925. The team also continues to hold the No. 2 spot in the nj.com state rankings released on Monday.

Leading the way for the Lady Trojans, Supriyha Moore earned first place all-around, as well as first on vault, beam, and floor, and third on bars. Sofia Bertocci followed with a second-place all-around finish, taking first on bars, second on vault, a tie for second on beam, and second on floor. Alexa Cerchio placed third all-around, finishing second on bars and tying for second on beam, while Shelby Reno earned third on vault, beam, and floor.

Girls Tennis 5 vs. 0 W vs MiddlesexThe STA Girls Tennis team celebrated a 5-0 win against Middlesex on October 7th. At first singles was Milana Triola who won 6-0 and 6-2. At second singles was Alexa Demesa who won 6-2 and 6-2. At third singles was Isabella Depasquale who won 6-2 and 6-4. At first doubles was Diya Sachdeva and Veronica Bento who won 6-3 and 6-3. At second doubles was Kasey Deguzman and Sudhanva Mukkavilli who won 6-2 and 7-5.

Girls Tennis 3 vs. 2 W PiscatawayThe STA Girl’s Tennis team defeated Piscataway 3-2. At first singles, Milana Triola won 6-0 and 6-0. At second singles, Alexa Demesa won 7-5 and 6-4. At third singles, Isabella Depasquale won 6-1 and 6-0. This win now puts the team at first place in the division with three games left in the season.

Gymnastics 108.05 vs 86.525 W vs PiscatawayThe Aquinas Gymnastics Team celebrated six outstanding seniors and capped off the night with another conference victory, defeating visiting Piscataway 108.05 to 86.525. All six seniors competed for the team, showcasing true Trojan pride and excellence. Leading the way for STAHS was Supriyha Moore, who placed first on vault, tied for first on bars, and took first on floor. Shelby Reno earned first on beam and third on floor, while Sofia Bertocci finished second on vault, bars, and floor. Kimberly Chin placed third on bars and beam, Alexis Cerchio tied for first on bars, and Olivia Harkins took third on vault. Annalia Barreros also contributed, scoring on beam. 

Football 41 vs 6 W vs EdisonThe St. Thomas Aquinas Trojans delivered a commanding 41–6 victory over Edison in a standout team performance. Quarterback Zy’Mere Weaver was electric, completing 14 of 18 passes for 226 yards and four touchdowns. On the ground, Ian Roberts powered the offense with 17 carries for 113 yards and one touchdown. The receiving corps shined, with Tristan Bester leading the way on three catches for 95 yards and a touchdown. Tyler Montgomery added two catches for 35 yards and a score, Thomas Stroud contributed two receptions for 25 yards and a touchdown, and Elijah Derilus hauled in a 25-yard touchdown to round out the dominant offensive showing.

Boys Cross County

The STA Boys Cross Country Team, under the leadership of Coach Greg Gurbicz, had a strong showing at the Thompson Park Fall Classic this weekend! 

Setting new personal bests were Salvatore Reno and Jovan Sorian, while freshman Nico Secatello earned a medal with a top-20 finish!
