STA STREAM FAIRE 2026 SHOWCASES RECORD NUMBER OF STUDENT PROJECTS

St. Thomas Aquinas High School hosted its 2026 STREAM Faire on Friday, April 24, featuring a record-breaking 51 student exhibitions that highlighted innovation, collaboration and creativity across a wide range of academic disciplines.

The annual event showcased projects spanning science, technology, religion, engineering, arts and mathematics, while giving students the opportunity to present hands-on research, prototypes and interactive demonstrations to classmates, faculty, families and guests.

One of the evening’s featured projects was a fully operational scaled swing-bridge prototype designed and constructed by senior engineering students Dylan Gowdy, Brianna Mercado and Kirsten Casteneda. The project required students to learn welding techniques and basic electrical work as part of the bridge’s functionality.

Junior Sophia Pedroso presented two projects during the event, including a prototype portable Bluetooth EEG machine and a patent-pending traffic light system.

The STREAM Faire also featured a showcase of artwork created by STA art students throughout the school year, highlighting a variety of artistic styles and mediums.

Students in Ms. Taub’s Art History class presented model art gallery projects that combined architectural design, visual art and written analysis. The assignment challenged students to creatively represent gallery spaces while connecting their work to historical artistic movements and themes.

Seniors Ginnalise Jimenez, Destiny Rodriguez and Raquel Diaz presented “Tilted Vision,” an educational project exploring the science, physiology and psychology behind alcohol impairment. Their exhibit included an interactive “drunk goggle” activity designed to simulate impaired motor skills and reaction times.

Another collaborative project combined art and science through baking. A team of juniors and seniors explored the chemistry behind cupcakes and frosting creation while also demonstrating principles of color theory through custom frosting combinations.

The school’s D20 Club, centered around the role-playing game Dungeons & Dragons, hosted an interactive exhibit demonstrating how the game incorporates mathematical probability, game theory, storytelling, creative writing, character design and costuming.

The STREAM Faire continues to serve as one of St. Thomas Aquinas High School’s signature academic showcases, reflecting the school’s commitment to career-driven learning experiences and interdisciplinary education.
