STA Announces Wrestling Program Leadership for the Future

St. Thomas Aquinas High School is proud to announce the appointment of two outstanding educators and coaches to lead its wrestling programs as the school continues to build upon its tradition of athletic excellence.

Vincent Gioffre has been named Head Coach of the Boys Wrestling Program, while Alexander Bianchini will serve as Head Coach of the Girls Wrestling Program.

Coach Gioffre brings more than three decades of coaching experience to the role. His coaching career began in 1990 as an assistant coach at JFK High School in Paterson before joining the staff at Edison High School in 1994. In 1999, he was recognized as the GMCWCA Assistant Coach of the Year. Gioffre served as Head Coach at J.P. Stevens High School from 2013 to 2017 and joined the St. Thomas Aquinas coaching staff in 2018. After previously leading the Trojans as head coach in 2024, he returns to the role this season, bringing with him decades of coaching experience and a deep commitment to the program. In addition to his coaching duties, Gioffre has served as a Social Studies teacher at St. Thomas Aquinas since 2022.

"Coach Gioffre's passion for the sport, commitment to student-athletes, and deep understanding of wrestling make him the ideal leader to continue elevating our boys program," said STA Athletic Director Matthew Silvestri.

Leading the girls wrestling program will be Coach Alexander Bianchini, who has been a member of the St. Thomas Aquinas wrestling coaching staff for the past four years. In addition to his coaching responsibilities, Bianchini serves as an English teacher at the school. A former wrestler at Metuchen High School and Middlesex College, he has played an instrumental role in the growth and development of Trojan wrestlers and is well-positioned to lead the continued expansion of the girls wrestling program.

"Coach Bianchini has demonstrated a tremendous commitment to our student-athletes both in the classroom and on the mat," said STA Athletic Director Matthew Silvestri. "His leadership, energy, and dedication will help take our girls wrestling program to the next level."

As wrestling continues to grow at St. Thomas Aquinas, both coaches will play a vital role in developing student-athletes, strengthening the culture of the program, and guiding the next generation of Trojan wrestlers toward success.
