STA Announces Coach Myles Hartsfield as New Head Track and Field Coach

Myles Hartsfield

St. Thomas Aquinas High School is proud to announce Coach Hartsfield as our new Head Track and Field Coach for both Winter and Spring Track.

Coach Hartsfield is a dedicated speed coach with a passion for the science of running fast. He thrives on helping athletes unlock their full potential through proper technique, discipline, and consistent effort. A determined and driven young mind in the field, he brings both experience and enthusiasm to every practice, creating an environment where athletes are motivated to give their best.

As a former standout athlete himself, Coach Hartsfield achieved remarkable success in high school, earning a national championship in the triple jump and becoming a state champion in the long jump, triple jump, and 4x100 relay.

He continued his athletic career at Ole Miss (2016 to 2019), where he served as Team Captain before signing undrafted to the Carolina Panthers in 2020. Over the course of his professional career, he started 23 games in the NFL, and yes, he even sacked Tom Brady.

At STA, Coach Hartsfield currently serves as a full time staff member, as well as Assistant Head Coach and Defensive Coordinator for the STA Football Team. His leadership and athlete first approach have already made a powerful impact on and off the field.

“Coach Hartsfield is the prime example of what it means to lead by example. He brings professional experience, knowledge of the sport, and his commitment to developing student athletes make him an incredible asset to our athletic program,” said Matthew Silvestri, Athletics Director at STA. “We are excited to see the future of STA Track and Field under his leadership.”

Now leading the Track and Field program, Coach Hartsfield brings the same values that shaped his own success: teamwork, focus, and a relentless drive for improvement. His organized and encouraging approach empowers every athlete to reach their full potential, grow in confidence, and compete with character. Coach Hartsfield’s leadership reflects the spirit of Aquinas Excellence and the unity of One Trojan Family.
