Math Teacher

St. Thomas Aquinas High School is seeking a passionate, knowledgeable, and student-centered Math Teacher to join our faculty for the upcoming school year. The ideal candidate will foster a dynamic learning environment that challenges students academically while supporting their growth in confidence, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.

Candidates should demonstrate a commitment to academic excellence, collaboration, innovation in instruction, and the mission of Catholic education. The successful applicant will inspire students through engaging lessons, meaningful relationships, and a dedication to helping every student reach their full potential.

Responsibilities

  • Teach mathematics courses at the high school level
  • Develop engaging lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards
  • Utilize a variety of instructional strategies and technology tools
  • Monitor and communicate student progress effectively
  • Maintain a positive and structured classroom environment
  • Collaborate with faculty, counselors, and administration to support student success
  • Participate in school activities, professional development, and school community initiatives

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; degree in Mathematics, Education, or related field strongly preferred
  • Prior teaching or instructional experience is helpful but not required
  • Strong communication, organizational, and classroom-management skills
  • Ability to convey mathematical concepts clearly and support students of varying academic levels
  • Commitment to the mission of Catholic education and the STA community

Salary Range

$41,000–$44,000 annually, commensurate with experience.

Background Check & Compliance Requirements

All candidates must meet diocesan and state requirements for working in a Catholic school, including:

  • Successful completion of a criminal background check
  • Completion of Virtus/Protecting God’s Children training
  • Submission of required employment and compliance documents, including I-9 forms, transcripts, and references
  • Adherence to all school safety policies and guidelines

This is an in-person position at St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Edison, New Jersey.
