The winter sports season at STA has been one for the record books. Our student-athletes put in the hard work, and it paid off in amazing performances, victories, and historic streaks. Here are just some of the highlights from this incredible season:
🔥 Swimming: Samantha Villacis went undefeated in every event she swam and will be continuing her career at Florida State University on a swimming scholarship, but not before another year with the Trojan swim team! Samantha, alongside Kaitlin Hall, Hailey Zeszotarski, and Gianna Socio, also set a school record in the 200 Free Medley!
🏃Winter Track: Chukwuma Odoh set two school records this season, toppling the 55-meter dash with a time of 6.71 seconds and the 200-meter dash with a time of 23.75 seconds.
🏀 Girls Basketball: For the sixth consecutive year, our Trojans are GMC County Champions! The team also secured over 20 wins for the sixth straight season and is once again ranked among the Top 20 teams in the state.
🏀 Boys Basketball: The boys continued their dominance, reaching the Final Four of the GMC County Tournament for the fifth straight year, winning it twice in that span.
🤼 Wrestling: Four Trojans took home District Championships this season: congratulations to Caden Sternlieb, Reed Kerstetter, Sanyah Queen, and Mikayla Decker for their incredible performances on the mat. And, of course, Sanyah Queen became the second girl in STA history to stand atop the podium in the state championship.
A huge congratulations to all our winter athletes for their hard work, determination, and commitment to excellence. The STA community is so proud of you!
