Students Spread Joy and Love through December Service Projects
Posted on 12/19/2024
This month, our students truly embraced the spirit of giving and brought joy to those in need through a series of heartfelt service projects that exemplify the meaning of Christmas.

At the Veterans Home in Menlo Park, students and teachers shared meaningful conversations and laughter with the residents, playing checkers and even a lively game of balloon tennis, with the residents showing no mercy as they spiked the balloons back to the students. Junior Crisgeily Hernandez-Corcino captured the experience perfectly, saying "This makes my heart happy!” These visits will continue every 2nd and 4th Monday from January to April, spreading joy throughout the year.

The following day, the select choir brought holiday cheer to St. Joseph’s Senior Home in Woodbridge. Their beautiful Christmas carols had residents clapping, tapping their feet, and singing along. This visit warmed everyone’s hearts, and we look forward to returning on 2/13 for a special Valentine’s Day celebration.

Throughout December, the school community came together for the Baskets for Neighbors program, donating food to support those in need. Alumni Amarilis ’18 and Anali ’21 Rodriguez will prepare and distribute the baskets to bring holiday meals to families this Christmas season.]

Our Catholic Charities Christmas Angels project shined brightly as Theology classes collected money to purchase gifts for eight children from three families. Thanks to the incredible generosity of our community, these children received an abundance of gifts, reminding us all of the true meaning of the season. On the 19th, students and Mrs. Fucci delivered the gifts along with four beautifully decorated Christmas trees to Catholic Charities in Perth Amboy.

At STA, we believe in the power of service to illuminate minds and inspire hearts. These projects exemplify how our students and staff live out our call to serve. Together, they’ve brought love, joy, and hope to so many this season.
