"May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit." -Romans 15:13
This Advent season, the St. Thomas Aquinas community has embraced the spirit of reflection and preparation through retreats for both faculty and students.
On Friday, faculty gathered for an Advent retreat led by guest speaker Martin Arensault, who shared a message on the virtue of hope. Arensault emphasized how hope not only sustains us through challenges but also shapes the way we nurture and guide our students, professionally and spiritually.
The retreat provided faculty with a chance to step away from the busyness of the season, reflect on their faith, and prepare their hearts for Christmas.
Over the weekend, students continued their Advent journeys at an overnight retreat filled with prayer, reflection, and community-building activities. Centered around the theme of trusting in God's plan, students explored how to remain hopeful and steadfast, even when faced with uncertainty. Senior Brandon Gafanhao reflected on his experience at the retreat saying, “The retreat helped prepare me for the Advent season by helping me draw closer to God and understand that even in tough situations He is always present. I’m glad that we had confessions, talks, and activities to help us be better prepared for Christmas.”
These Advent retreats exemplify STA’s commitment to fostering both personal growth and spiritual development within our community. As we journey through this season together, may we continue to embrace the hope and joy that Advent brings.
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” – Jeremiah 29:11
