Katerina Xon Selected for Prestigious Journalism Conference in Washington, D.C.

St. Thomas Aquinas High School proudly announces that student Katerina Xon has been selected as a National Youth Correspondent for the 2025 Washington Journalism and Media Conference, to be held at George Mason University. Xon will represent Perth Amboy, NJ, among a select group of outstanding students from across the country for an intensive week of journalism and media studies in the nation’s capital.
Selection as a National Youth Correspondent is a testament to Xon’s academic achievements and passion for journalism and media. During the conference, she will engage in hands-on, experiential learning that challenges students to explore the creative, practical, and ethical complexities of the media industry. The program includes interactive decision-making simulations and sessions led by distinguished journalists, media executives, and industry leaders.
Notable past speakers have included Hoda Kotb from NBC, Brian Lamb from C-SPAN, Pulitzer Prize-winning photographer Carol Guzy, and Susan Goldberg from National Geographic. With direct access to elite professionals, the Washington Journalism and Media Conference offers aspiring journalists an unparalleled opportunity to develop leadership skills, expand their understanding of media ethics, and explore career pathways in the industry.
The conference will take place from July 7 to July 12, 2025, at George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia.
