The St. Thomas Aquinas boys’ soccer team is making waves this season with an impressive undefeated start under first-year head coach Jason Chung. The Trojans, now 6-0 in the Greater Middlesex Conference (GMC), have outscored their opponents 52-2, boasting five shutouts along the way. The team’s defense has been stellar, allowing just two goals in five matches, and its offense has been on fire, continuously pressuring opponents.
Coach Chung has built a formidable team that has dominated both sides of the ball. “I am incredibly proud of the boys and the success they have achieved thus far,” said Coach Chung. “It’s our hope that the best is yet to come as we enter the more challenging part of our schedule in the coming weeks.”
Led by senior Nelson Fuentes’ 15 goals and 11 assists, it has been a whole-team effort that includes freshmen Elias Araujo (eight goals, two assists) and Luca Malovini (eight goals, one assist), sophomore Ian Asinger (nine assists) and juniors Snyder Reyes (six goals, two assists) and Jeremy Ramirez (four goals, four assists) on offense while sophomore goalie Domenic Grande with 17 saves.
The remarkable ascent of the team is product of the determination and hard work that the athletes have contributed over the last few seasons, guided by coaches and athletics staff whose focus is on developing teamwork, sportsmanship, and well-rounded athletes who not only have the skills to win but who excel in the classroom and serve others off the field.
With their combination of defensive grit and offensive power, St. Thomas Aquinas is the team to watch in the GMC and could be poised for a breakout season under Coach Chung's leadership.
