Friday morning at St. Thomas Aquinas High School buzzed with excitement as the annual We Are STA (WASTA) Day kicked off, a day designed to warmly welcome the Class of 2028. The event, packed with fun and engaging activities, was all about making the freshmen feel at home and helping them break the ice before their first official day of classes.
The day began with heartfelt welcomes from students and faculty, setting the tone for what would be an action-filled experience. Student Council members quickly got the freshmen mixing and mingling through exciting games like Dragon Tag and Ships & Sailors. As the energy soared, the school’s talented musicians, led by kept spirits high with live performances of crowd favorites like “Big House,” “Trading Our Sorrows,” and “Living on a Prayer.”
With energies high, the freshmen explored the building in a QR code scavenger hunt, helping them discover important spots and meet key people around the school. Peer Leadership students stepped in to guide small group icebreakers, making sure everyone had a chance to connect and start forming bonds.
By the end of the day, the smiles and laughter were evidence enough—WASTA Day was a hit! The nervousness that some of the freshman had expressed before the day began had melted away. It set the perfect tone for what’s sure to be an amazing journey ahead for the Class of 2028.
