Walk the Journey of Lent by Taking Up the Cross

"If anyone wishes to come after me, he must deny himself and take up his cross daily and follow me."

The season of Lent begins tomorrow with Ash Wednesday, and STA will be walking the journey inspired by these words of Jesus. Taking up the cross is a choice, something we do with our own free will, just as Jesus did. We put our old desires and passions to death, and belong to Jesus. This means that when we take up the cross, our focus is on God and it reflects His will. Let us use this season to listen for God's will and put it before our own desires.

Director of Campus Ministry Mr. Mike Lewon describes the school's goals and plans for the Lenten seasons: "During our observance of Lent, STA will be providing ways for students and faculty, alike, to take up their crosses daily in order to follow Jesus more closely. We will pray together as a school community with opportunities for Mass, Stations of the Cross, and Confessions. We will give alms together through a Lenten food drive, lunch packing initiative, and other activities to serve those most in need in our communities. We will fast by avoiding excessive comforts to make more room in our lives for God on a daily basis. Journeying together as a school community and as a part of the wider Church, we at STA pray for a blessed and fruitful Lenten season."
