On a clear, cold evening three weeks before Christmas, 125 St. Thomas Aquinas High School students gathered together to remember the true meaning of Christmas and to prepare themselves for the coming of Jesus. It was the first overnight retreat at STA since Advent 2019 and it was a moving experience that was filled with comradery, joy, and introspection.
The Advent theme for STA this year was “Get Ready!” and that is exactly the opportunity that this overnight experience provided for students. The night was punctuated by laughter and happiness as students and faculty listened to the words of Campus Ministry members Fr. Mike Tabernero, Mr. Mike Lewon, and Mrs. Jasmin Alfaro, participated in small group discussions and activities, and attended mass, Eucharistic adoration, and confession.
The evening was a memorable and meaningful opportunity for students to spend time together and strengthen their bonds with each other, with the STA community, and with God.
