Jerry Smith Inducted into Baseball Hall of Fame
Posted on 10/14/2022
Congratulations to our Athletics Director Jerry Smith, who was recently inducted into the Woodbridge Hall of Fame for Baseball. Among the winningest baseball coaches in GMC history, Smith compiled a 248-119 record over 15 seasons, 8 division titles, and 2 sectional championships.

Now an Athletics Director, Smith is widely regarded as one of the most dynamic and hardest-working A.D.'s in the state, largely because of the many responsibilities that he voluntarily assumes that don’t normally fall under the job description. Some of the duties that Smith has undertaken in his role of A.D. that have differentiated him from public school colleagues include driving and cleaning buses, cleaning and painting, setting up and taking down chairs and bleachers, updating and hanging championship banners, and writing an athletics handbook.

As a former coach, Smith knows the importance of academics and his credo since his arrival in 2019 has been "Winning through Academics." He constantly stresses the importance of students doing well academically and is always monitoring their grades and communicating with students, teachers, and parents.

Congratulations to Jerry Smith on this well-deserved accomplishment and for the example he sets as Athletics Director.
