STUDENT SERVICE GUIDELINES

 

1. ALL students must complete 10 hours. 5 must be completed by the last day of the 2nd quarter and 5 must be completed by the last day of the 4th quarter.

2. Completion of required active service each semester will earn students 5% extra credit on their midterm and final Theology exam grades.

3. NHS requirement, half may be donations, and the required hours count towards these numbers:

   1. 40 freshman year

   2. 40 sophomore year

   3. 25 before February 1st of junior year - 15 2nd half of the year

   4. 40 senior year - to receive honor cords for graduation

 

WHAT DOES NOT COUNT AS SERVICE: 

● Working for family. Families (i.e, parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, etc.) are NOT permitted to sign off on service logs. 

● Working for neighbors does NOT count as service. 

● Babysitting does NOT count as service 

● Picking up trash in local parks does NOT count unless it is with an organized group or organization. 

● Making casseroles, hygiene bags, or baked goods does NOT count unless you are actively providing them to an organization. For example: Elijah’s Promise. If that is the case, then someone at the organization MUST verify your donation. 

 

Donations will not count towards required service, but can count for service above required active hours.

 

SERVICE PROJECT ORGANIZATION

   1. Cards for the sisters in Lodi (1 hour)

   2. Placemats for St. Peter’s Children’s Hospital (1 hour/month after school)

   3. Sandwich making for Elijah’s Promise or TASK (1 hour/month after school)

   4. Wrapping Silverware for TASK (1 hour/month after school as needed)

   5. Hoops for Heart (hours vary based on participation level)

   6. WASTA Day (3.5 hours)

   7. Aquinas Star Dinner (3 hours)

   8. Ushering for Shows (1.5 hours)

2. Service Trips/Outings

   1. Walk for Pediatric Hydrocephalus

   2. St Vincent DePaul Thanksgiving

   3. Veterans Home

   4. St. Joseph’s Nursing Home

   5. Elementary School/Daycare Buddies

   6. Lakeview School

   7. Trenton Area Soup Kitchen

   8. Community Food Bank of NJ

3. Collections and Drives

   1. Food Collections for Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter (1 hour/$15)

   2. Coat and Blankets for FISH in October (1 hour/bag)

   3. Clothing Drive (1 hour/bag)

   4. Operation Christmas Child

Getting Started Guide: Students

If you DO NOT have a Mobileserve account with STA, please follow the instructions below. or use this printable flyer.

MobileServe is available as a mobile app in the App Store and Google Play and can be used on most devices smartphones and tablets. If you’d rather not use the mobile app, you can create and manage your MobileServe account from any internet-connected device at: app.mobileserve.com. Simply skip them download instructions below and start with Create Your Account.  

Download the App 

1.    Go to the App Store or Google Play.

2.    Search “MobileServe”.

3.    Tap the Get or Install button next to MobileServe App.

Create Your Account

1.    Open the app or go to app.mobileserve.com. & select Sign-Up.

2.    Enter requested information (you MUST use your school email) and create a password. Select Next.

3.    Add an optional photo to your profile or skip it.

4.    Select Next.

5.    Enter the 6-digit code for your grade level (see below) and click join.

How to log hours

If you have signed up through Mobileserve, find the event and check in when the event starts and check out when you are finished. The supervisor of the event will get an email to verify your participation.

If you are doing other service: 

1.    On the home page, click the blue “LOG HOURS” button.

2.   Click on the date and select the correct day you completed your service.

3.    Under “Total Hours” enter the number of hours you served.

4.    Enter the organization that you served.

5.    Select a Service Category

        a.    Active Service

        b.    Donations

6.    In the “Tell Your Story” box, describe what you did while serving.

7.    Click the “NEXT” button.

8.    Verification:

        a.    Enter your supervisor’s name.

        b.    You MUST provide your supervisor’s email address or upload a picture of a signed paper letter.

        c.    Your supervisor will receive a verification email from Mobileserve and need to verify your hours

9.    Upload any pictures you take of your service.

10.    Click the blue “Submit Hours” button.

11.    Hours will go to Mrs. Fucci for approval.

        a.    Your hours will either be approved (after verification) or denied.

        b.    If you hours are denied, you will receive an email with reasoning.

Service hour requirements for families receiving financial aid will be strictly enforced this year, and all hours must be completed by the designated deadlines to maintain eligibility. Key points:

• Starting July 1, 2025, the value will change, and a $50 donation will equal one service hour. A tier system will be implemented, showing equity in hours volunteering and donations received.
• Please provide paper receipts for all purchases that count toward your service hours.

Parents/Guardians will be required to manage their service hours via our new partner, MobileServe.  Any service hours not completed will require payment for the remaining balance. If this amount is unpaid, financial assistance will not be available for the following year. For families with seniors, official transcripts will be released once the balance is paid in full.

Our administrative team will update the service hours monthly, and you will receive an email with your outstanding balance of hours. If you have questions or concerns call (732) 549 - 1108. Families may now complete up to 25% of their required hours by volunteering at their home church or parish. A verification form must be completed, and submitted via MobileServe, to ensure these hours are properly credited. See form here.

Parents may earn hours by offering talents such as landscaping, painting, facility support, CPR instruction, trade skills, and other services aligned with school needs.

These additions reflect our commitment to making service opportunities accessible, flexible, and meaningful for all families.

Families may earn 1 service hour for every $25 secured in event sponsorships. This credit is awarded to the individual who secures the sponsorship—whether it comes from a local business you approach, your place of employment, or another community partner.

Example: A $2,500 sponsorship earns 100 service hours.
