Food Drive Makes Difference at Thanksgiving

The St. Thomas Aquinas High School family once again showed how big their hearts are with the outpouring of donations for Thanksgiving.

Approximately 75 turkeys were collected and donated to FISH in Piscataway and the Woodbridge Food Bank. On Wednesday, November 20 Assistant Campus Ministers Mr. John Roche and Mr. Kevin McCarthy delivered the frozen turkeys to the many people already waiting in line to receive their Thanksgiving food. On Thursday November 21, maintenance crew member George Dietz made another delivery of donated frozen turkeys to the Woodbridge Food Bank.

Then on Monday, November 25, a group of 14 STA students accompanied by Sister Cynthia, Mr. John Roche, and Mr. Kevin McCarthy visited the St. Vincent de Paul Society Food Bank in Perth Amboy to help pack bags of food and distribute food to the those in need. Much of the food that was packed and distributed was donated by STA students and their families. The STA volunteers were truly the face of God to everyone at the St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry.

“What makes Thanksgiving truly special is not the food, it is the art of giving and knowing you’re helping someone through their struggles. That is the true happiness in Thanksgiving,” said senior Nicole Kubiak. Thanksgiving is much better this year for many area families because of the generous hearts of the Aquinas Family.
