Sports Updates for Spring Break

Spring sports are in full swing even while BGA is on break. Here are some of the Varsity highlights you might have missed over break!

The Boys Tennis team starting things off with a 5-0 win against South Amboy. Notable matches were won by Jacob Pil 6-1, Lizhe Zhang 6-1, and Nachi Gosukonda/Thomas Koenig 6-0.

The Softball team continued their winning streak, remaining undefeated in their division with wins against East Brunswick (10-0) Piscataway (23-2), Edison (13-3), and J.P. Stevens (2-1 in extra innings). Alyssa DeJianne chalked up wins in each of those games, including pitching 10 innings and earning 17 strikeouts against J.P. Stevens. Megan Herka, Melissa Martinez, Alyssa DeJianne, and Paige Tideback both cleared the fences with homers.

The Baseball team won three-in-a-row, putting themselves in contention for the division title with wins against Highland Park (10-0), Dunellen away (11-1), and Dunellen at home (6-1).

The Golf team defeated Perth Amboy 200-229 with the low score of 43 coming from Emily Abrams.

And finally, the Boys Lacrosse team defeated Wardlaw-Hartridge 11-7. Goalie John Campagna had 10 saves while goals were scored by Richi Ptaszynski (4), Dyson Hardwick (3), Bret English (3), and Nico Federico (1).
